LOVEinc Dessert Styling — Edmonton Wedding Vendors

Welcome to another new addition to the blog, featured vendors! The best part about being wedding photographers is you get to work with and sample vendor creations from all over this lovely city! In our first wedding we have seen quite a few and we’ve found some great friends and favorites.

The first that gets to grace our vendor feature for the month of September is Lindsey Wheatley, owner of LOVEinc. A fantastic little dessert stylist right in the heart of Edmonton. She puts together amazing tables for weddings, bridal showers, or any other event you can think of! Look for something a little less traditional and super fun for your wedding then read on to see what she has to say about her love of her company!

My name is Lindsey Wheatley and I own LOVEinc Dessert Styling.  I create high end dessert tables for weddings, showers, birthdays and just about any other event imaginable.  I gather and style desserts from many of the best bakeries in Edmonton and put them together with luxurious linens, beautiful stationary, gorgeous dessert stands and decor to create an amazing display that will WOW your guests.  I also make a mean cake pop which seems to still be the most requested dessert on my tables.

Tell us a little about you!
My husband and I moved from Calgary to Edmonton just over 2 years ago.  We live in the heart of Old Strathcona and love the vibrancy of Whyte Avenue.  We like to attend the many festivals and try out all the amazing food (and sweet treats) Edmonton has to offer.  We were also married in Maui 2 years ago and welcomed our sweet little boy last August.  I started designing dessert table for friends and family and it soon blossomed into a business.  It has since grown into a fun and rewarding career and I feel blessed to have such a sweet job!

(We got to photography the family of three this past summer! They are such an amazingly sweet and cute little family they are, she’s already got her little one hooked on sweets it seems!)

Why do you love what you do?
I have a passion for all things pretty.  I LOVE dessert, fashion, design, pretty paper, art and entertaining. To be able to combine all of these elements to create an unforgettable dessert display makes my heart happy.

What are some of your favorite moments from being involved with weddings?
My favorite moment is definitely when the Bride or Guest of honor and their guests see the dessert table.  Desserts bring so much joy and to see them displayed such a pretty, fun way makes people very happy.  I have every response from screaming to crying and it makes this job so rewarding to see such joy.  One of my Brides wouldn’t let anyone touch the dessert table until midnight because she wanted to enjoy it all night!   I guess dessert just brings out the kid in all of us!

What is the best part about your job as a dessert stylist?
The best part of my job is be able to express my creativity in an unexpected way.  I love turning the clients vision into reality and making sure that the table is made just for them.

Can you pass on some of your best wedding advice?
My best advice is hire the right vendors so you can relax and enjoy your day.  Many brides try to do it all themselves and end up so stressed they forget what the day is all about.  It goes so fast so make sure you are able to enjoy every second of it!

The one question you get asked most by brides?

One question I get asked alot is do I make all of the desserts myself.  The answer is no, although I do create a few of the desserts (like cake pops since I cant find a bakery that does them just right!) I hunt for the best possible tasting desserts Edmonton has to offer.  That is why my company is so different from some of the cake shops out there that are creating dessert tables.  Since I am not a bakery who makes specific desserts, I am free to use the best and most unique products from anywhere you want. I can get you macarons from Duchess, cupcakes from Crave, candy from Coney Island and we can even throw in your Grandmothers favorite Oatmeal Cookies!  I can also work with your wedding cake designer and create a table to compliment your cake!

Thanks Lindsey! We look forward to working with you again very soon!

The Wedding Wednesday tips comes in a little bit different format this week as we are going to talk about one of our favorite products!
If you’ve ever heard us talk about what means the most to us for our own photos its displaying them all over our home. Love too many photos without enough wall space? The answer is albums! We LOVE albums, almost as much as we love love. We believe that having a book of photos from your wedding day (or any other special occasion) that can be viewed over and over again and maybe even passed down to future generations and that’s why we love to show them off!

Albums allow us to relive memories that we cherish so deeply, so that is why we believe you need an album and we have the best ones around for you to choose from. These aren’t your puffy white albums of baby books past, these are beautiful, clean, and classic albums that will stand the test of time and look phenomenal on your coffee table or shelves.

Now you may be thinking to yourself that you know a lot of sites where you can do this yourself and you are right. There are a lot of sites where you can create your own photo book, but none of them compare to the quality of these albums. (Trust me, we’ve tried them!) You don’t even have to worry about the hassle of getting around to create it because Bee custom designs an album just for you.. It allows for full page spreads with no photos cut down the middle, as it has layflat pages where a picture can span the whole album. The image is not just placed on the paper it is digitally printed onto it guaranteeing it will last a long time!
There are a variety of colours to suit whatever decor scheme you have going on and they come in two different styles, a leather and linen.

Take a look at the photo below to see the difference. Both of these albums are 20 pages, the leather version is quite a bit thicker as the pages are about twice the size of the linen version, but both are stunning pieces to have in your home. More of a coffee table book lover (and want to have your photos out all the time) then perhaps the linen is for you! If you are looking for a conversation and shelf piece the leather makes a big statement. Both are equally stunning and timeless, its all personal taste in which you would like!

There really isn’t anything not to love about having your very own album. We love answering questions about them and when you come to your first meeting we get to show them off to you too! Have we convinced you to love albums yet? Let us know what you think of our favorite product and if you’d like to see more posts on products!

Karyn + Evan — Edmonton Wedding Photographers

Wow what a whirlwind of a weekend! TWO engagements over the last weekend of August, can we be any luckier? We love engagements, the stories and the cute couples we get to photograph.

Karyn and Evan clearly have a love that will last a lifetime and we truly love getting to see couples who are in love with each other. They have been together since high school and recently got engaged at a lake near Karyn’s acreage, which was so true to them as they love being out in nature and a picnic was involved (How cute!) So we all thought it was only fitting we made it an outdoor and super woodsy engagement session at Karyn’s parents acreage where she grew up. We had such a fun time wandering through the pathways behind their home as Karyn explained all the fun she had there as a child. Old forts and new tree houses were all around and the summer sun made it an amazing evening for photos. Plus, the mosquitoes weren’t too bad.

We can’t wait to be a part of Karyn and Evan’s big, relaxed day next August, they make it look so easy to be photographed!
